Re: Real Property Tax Computer System
Attached is a bill amending the Capital Budget by adding an appropriation of $1.2 million for
a Real Property Tax Computer System.
The City and County of Honolulu will be implementing a new (client/selver) Real Property
System and we have been informed that neighbor island counties should expect their service
costs to increase and requests for changes due to changes to the tax code and
enhancements will be done on a time available basis and chargeable.
Maui and Kauai are planning to implement their independent systems, which may result in
higher costs to the County of Hawaii if we remain as the only neighbor island county being
serviced by the City. We are also concerned that change requests due to changes to
ordinances and enhancements will be done on a time available basis. This may result in
conflicts with ordinance implementation dates. Our early estimate indicates that conversion
would take two years.
