RESOLUTION NO. 571 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
FUTURE FOR THE 2016 HAWAII ISLAND WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT.
WHEREAS,the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney oversees the Committee on the
Status of Women, and one of the goals of this Committee is to promote women's participation in
public and private sectors; and
WHEREAS,Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is
to facilitate a vision of lokahi, "harmony and balance," among the diverse peoples of Hawai`i
and encouraging each person to contribute their deepest values, to create shared visions, and to
continuously improve our communities; and
WHEREAS,the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, in partnership with Friends of the
Future, supports the 2016 Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit and the advancement of
women through knowledge, strength, and community; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the 2016 Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit,
"Tools for Exellence- Self, Relationships, Career and Community", is to strengthen women by
providing real tools for real life, thereby empowering and advancing themselves, their
relationships, their careers and their community; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for expenses
related to planning and implementation of the 2016 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership
Summit; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
