RESOLUTION NO. S78 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
FURTURE FOR THE 2016 HAWAII ISLAND WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP FORUM.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is
to facilitate a vision of lokahi - harmony and balance - among the diverse peoples of Hawai'i;
and encouraging each person to contribute their deepest values, to create shared visions, and to
continuously improve our communities; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the 2016 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Forum is to
support, encourage, and strengthen women—while celebrating the vital role they play in our
society; and
WHEREAS, the 2016 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Forum will take place on
August 26, 2016, at the Hilton Waikoloa Village; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney oversees the Committee on the
Status of Women, which seeks to advance and celebrate the value of women in our society, and
promote women's participation in public and private sector's; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports the 2016 Hawai`i Island
Women's Leadership Forum; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for educational
materials and supplies for the 2016 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Forum; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
