A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE
KAMEHAMEHA SCHOOLS WATER POLO TEAM'S CULTURAL EXCHANGE IN
HONG KONG.
WHEREAS, Kamehameha Schools (KS) Hawaii Campus was founded in 1996 to serve
Native Hawaiian students on the Big Island of Hawaii and is supported by a private, charitable,
educational trust endowed by the will of Hawaiian Princess, Bernice Pauahi Bishop; and
WHEREAS, the KS Water Polo Team will compete in the 2016 Panasonic 18'h Asia
Pacific Water Polo Tournament in Hong Kong, showcasing the talents of our Big Island keiki;
and
WHEREAS, in addition to competing in the tournament, the KS Water Polo Team will
perform two community service projects and participate in a cultural exchange with two schools
through sharing of the Hawaiian language, culture, hula, and music; and
WHEREAS, members of the KS Water Polo Team are requesting funds to assist with
expenses including, but not limited to, cultural education materials and supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports educational and
recreational programs that promote Hawai`i's culture, art, and history; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to assist with expenses related to the KS Water Polo
Team's cultural exchange in Hong Kong; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
