In the current fiscal year, $470,000 is appropriated for this grant account. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these additional funds into the Career Criminal Program account, and bringing the total grant appropriation to $524,512. REQUEST: We are requesting the Council's permission to increase the total amount of state funds accepted for the "CCP - Career Criminal Program" grant from $470,000 to a new total of $524,512. The revenue account affected is 3304.03 Careeer Criminal Program. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): For the Current FY 17 budget the County Council approved the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to appropriate funds totalling $470,000 for fiscal year 2017 for the continuation of the Career Criminal Program. The State of Hawaii has now increased the funds they want to award to the County of Hawaii to $524,512. These funds come with a five percent (5%) contingency restriction which will be released to the County based on actual state tax collections and tax collection trends and forcasts. With the Restriction the total is $498.286. These funds will be received in the current fiscal year and spent during the current fiscal year.
