RE. Kaupulehu development hearing venue _-
Aloha, Council members:
The meeting planned for the lust reading o H to Kaupulehu development request is
scheduled for Hilo as was the one last week. 1 a3:.... protest this venue. The people of West
Hawaii deserve to have high - impact questio.LS i: $l- one heard on their own turf, as close to
home as possible. For most people, a trip to Hilo , tid,lveek for a hearing is unfeasible, if not
impossible.
The new council has not had the opporiumi y to hear the hours and hours and weeks and
months of tvstimony that came from this side of t'. I:Jand during both State and County
hearings discussing this project (proposed for lit ; a t pristine lava flovT and viewplane in North
Kona). Though they can read. past record on the : E;ic, 'they probably need some first -hand
experience of the questions and doubts whic b ' :i . )nununity has had regarding such a huge
development- -yet another pern of such a rY .ziopment before the many others that are
already approved are built out
On a county level this question remains p�e ature due to consideration not yet made by
the courts. To put off a final reading in order to 1.4c litate public involventent should not affect
the developers in that they must wait until the court has spoken.
