RESOLUTION NO. 602 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS
HAWAII INC. TO ASSIST WEST HAWAII ATHLETES WITH EXPENSES
ASSOCIATED WITH THE BIG ISLAND REGIONAL BOWLING TOURNAMENT
AND ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET.
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
dedicated to helping children and adults with intellectual disabilities by improving their quality
of life through sports; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. is requesting funds to assist West Hawai`i
athletes with uniforms, volunteer t-shirts, awards, refreshments, and other expenses associated
with the Big Island Regional Bowling Tournament and Annual Awards Banquet; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. to
assist the West Hawai`i athletes of Special Olympics with expenses associated with the
Big Island Regional Bowling Tournament and Annual Awards Banquet; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
