RESOLUTION NO. 606 1G
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BOYS AND
GIRLS CLUB OF THE BIG ISLAND TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO
THE NUTRITIONAL SNACK SUPPLEMENTATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island (BGCBI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization with a mission to inspire and enable Big Island youth to be productive and
responsible citizens through quality programs in a safe and caring environment; and
WHEREAS, BGCBI internal tracking data indicates over 60% of participating youth
come from households with annual incomes less than $30,000, and 90% of youth identify as part
of an underrepresented minority group; and
WHEREAS, BGCBI serves more than 170 youth at their Kea'au and Pahoa locations,
providing weekday after-school activities and specialized intersession programs, such as the
Nutritional Snack Supplementation Program, for community youth ages 6-18; and
WHEREAS, the BGCBI serves approximately 36,012 youth annually, and request funds
to defray the costs of providing sufficient meal and nutrition for students enrolled in its
Nutritional Snack Supplementation Program; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs that assist families
and their children in drug-free and alcohol-free environments; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island
to assist with expenses relating to the Nutritional Snack Supplementation Program; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
