Subject: A Resolution to Establish a Hawai'i Island Packaging Sustainability Initiative (HIPSI)
Stakeholders Task Force - Resolution 565-16
Aloha !
I Agree that a Task force including representatives from government and the public could be beneficial to the
Hawaii island people, as well as our land and sea.
It would be advisable for the Task Force include the proposed ban stated in Bill 140 on the sale of polystyrene
food containers as of 7/1/18. Alignment and inclusion of the intentions of the earlier Styrofoam ban Bill 140
should also be a goal of the Task Force.
Clarification should also be made as to how members of the public will be chosen for the Task Force.
Resolution 565 mentions industry members who would be included in the Task Force. In addition,
there environmental organizations should also included.
Mahalo for allowing me to share my comments and observations.
