Aloha,
I am passionately against the use of polystyrene food containers. It is a huge danger to ocean life, ecosystems,
and ultimately, our livelihoods. Because of this, I oppose Danny Paleka's Resolution 565,D2 unless the
Amendment, Comm. 944.14 is approved.
There are already compostable alternatives available and we have already achieved a similar goal with plastic
bags. I believe that this legislation can do great things for Hawaii and can incentivize people to bring their own
containers the way they bring their own bags grocery shopping.
