RESOLUTION NO. 620 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BASIC IMAGE, INC.,
FOR THE 2017 HONOLI`I PAKA ALOHA HONUA SURFING CLASSIC AND
VARIOUS PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS.
WHEREAS, Basic Image, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes unity
by establishing educational, social, recreational, and cultural services through partnerships for
the purpose of taking care of Hawai`i Island's parks; and
WHEREAS, with the help of the Department of Parks and Recreation, Basic Image, Inc.,
is sponsoring the 2017 Honoli`i Paka Aloha Honua Surfing Classic, an event that creates public
awareness to protect and preserve Hawai`i's parks and coastal areas; and
WHEREAS, as part of its malama `aina initiative, Basic Image, Inc., also coordinates
various community service projects throughout the year for park maintenance and improvements
at Honoli`i Beach Park and Hakalau Bay; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Basic Image, Inc., for expenses
associated with the 2017 Honoli`i Paka Aloha Honua Surfing Classic and community service
projects for park maintenance and improvements; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
