The Hamakua coast is changing rapidly, both physically as the cliffs erode, and culturally as the vibrant local, plantation based, community is eroding. Our task, as the current generation to care for this place, is to pass along that which is good to the next generation. Most of us cherish our quiet open spaces and small communities where Aloha still lives. Currently there is a shift towards building upscale homes along the coastal cliff tops. This trend adds to the destabilization of the cliff edges which are already losing an average of 5 feet each decade, as I am witnessing. We are also losing something much harder to measure, as our history, culture, ocean views and ocean cleanliness are lost to development along our coast. The Hakalau Point Park would be a positive change for all of us who love this place. Thank you for your consideration. S on Blank qf Comm. No. I Ref. To:____IPC Ref. Date JUNj2 MR
