Idea: `Block Captains"will be responsible for checking in with neighbors,
helping to maintain traps,replacing damaged traps,reporting trap
maintenance
Trap deployment and maintenance:
1) Each trap to be numbered(use duplicate stickers—one on trap,one on
tracking form)
2). Paper form for tracking maintenance/counts/location
a. Date,Street address& Trap numbers assigned to address
3) TMK map of property to chart trap placement
a. Can trap placement be added to a"master map"? Would this be
worth the effort?
b. If person has smart phone capability,they can use google maps to
pinpoint traps
4) Start simply with 4-6 traps per house to be placed near the house and water
catchment
a. Marking traps:
i. Traps will have color-change timer label to show time refill
ii. Mark trap with a flag like they use to show utility lines
b. Placing traps:
i. One trap near front door clearly marked as the main reminder
ii. One trap near water catchment if they have one
iii. One trap for each side of the house (attached to the stilts,
nearby vegetation,shady area)
iv. For agricultural fields and orchards,place traps only around
shelters,toilets,and places where people spend time.
5) Review the possibility of other types of traps,like In2Care and propane ones
