Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of Florence S. Kubota, of Council
District 2, to the Hawaii County Planning Commission, to replace Kevin M. Balog
of Council District 1, whose term expired on December 31, 1998.
Mrs. Kubota is a lifetime resident of Hawaii and since 1989 has been retired after
serving thirty years as an educator with the State of Hawaii Department of
Education. She is a board member of the Big Island Educational Credit Union
and a Vice President for Hawaii State Teachers Association Retirees. She is a
member of the Democratic Party.
If approved, Mrs. Kubota will serve a term to end on December 31, 2003. Should
the Council need further information, regarding this nomination, you may contact
