RESOLUTION NO. 621 I-6
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AAUW KONA
EDUCATIONAL FUND TO ASSIST WITH THE 2016 GIRLS EXPLORING MATH
AND SCIENCE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the AAUW Kona Educational Fund (AAUW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that promotes educational activities for women and girls and encourages higher
education to the young women of West Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, GEMS is an annual math, science and technology exploration day with
hands-on activities for fifth grade girls throughout West Hawai`i who are introduced to women
within their community and are encouraged to learn about various careers in the fields of math
and science; and
WHEREAS, AAUW expressed the need for funds to assist with expenses associated
with the 2016 GEMS program; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to
the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the AAUW Kona Educational Fund
to assist with the 2016 GEMS program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII, that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
