RESOLUTION NO. 626 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS
HAWAII INC. TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE HOLIDAY
CLASSIC GAMES ON OAHU.
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
dedicated helping children and adults with intellectual disabilities to improve their quality of life
through sports; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawai`i Inc. holds year-round sports training and athletic
competition in Olympic-type sports for children and adults to help develop physical fitness,
demonstrate courage and skill, experience joy, build friendships, and participate in the sharing of
gifts with fellow athletes, families, and the community in East Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS, Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. entertains various sports activities
throughout the year in East Hawaii and has requested funds to help with travel expenses for
athletes to attend the Holiday Classic on O`ahu in November 2016; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Special Olympics Hawaii Inc. to
assist the athletes of Special Olympics East Hawaii with expenses related to participation in the
Holiday Classic games on O`ahu; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
