No. 1000/Bill No. 231 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:56 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning,to which was referred Bill No. 231, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 231, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi via Communication No. 1000 dated August 11, <br /> 2016, amends section 25-8-2(North and South Kona Zone Map), article 8, chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of <br /> the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), by changing the district classification from agricultural- <br /> twenty acres (A-20a) to Agricultural-ten acres (A-10a)at Kaloko,North Kona, Hawaii, covered by Tax <br /> Map Key: 7-3-048:001. The applicant is James Juvik, and the subject parcel covers 21.22 acres. The <br /> applicants have stated that the lots, if subdivided, would be used continuously as residential/agricultural. <br /> The Leeward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on July 21,2016, concurred with the <br /> recommendation by the Planning Director to send a favorable recommendation to the Council. <br /> Ms. Eoff asked James Leonard,the planning consultant for the applicant, to confirm that there are <br /> already two dwellings on the lots and there would be no change to the use of the property. Mr. Leonard <br /> said that is the case. Ms. Eoff said she would be supporting the bill. <br /> Mr. Kanuha said he attended the discussion at the Leeward Planning Commission meeting and agreed it <br /> was a straightforward bill.
