RESOLUTION NO. 644 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO A DREAM COME
TRUE TO ASSIST WITH ITS FUNDRAISING EVENTS TO HELP MAKE DREAMS
COME TRUE FOR SERIOUSLY ILL CHILDREN ON HAWAII ISLAND.
WHEREAS, A Dream Come True (ADCT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created
in 1985 by Hawaii Fire Department personnel with the vision to make dreams come true for
seriously ill children on Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, ADCT raises funds through various activities and events which go towards
making a child's dream come true, such as providing a dream vacation, new bicycle, computer,
or gaming system; and
WHEREAS, ADCT has requested financial assistance to pay for prizes, hot dogs, ice
cream, pizza, and other expenses associated with conducting its fundraising events to be held in
October 2016 and April 2017; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Hawaii Fire Department to provide a grant to ADCT for expenses associated with its
fundraising events to help make dreams come true for seriously ill children on Hawaii Island;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
