RESOLUTION NO. 645 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO A DREAM COME
TRUE FOR AN ICE CREAM PARTY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR SERIOUSLY ILL
CHILDREN ON HAWAII ISLAND.
WHEREAS, A Dream Come True is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created in 1985
by Hawaii Fire Department personnel who wanted to make dreams come true for seriously ill
children on Hawaii Island by providing them with something they have always wanted, such as
a dream vacation, computer, toy, etc.; and
WHEREAS, during the past 30 years, A Dream Come True has fulfilled the dreams of
78 seriously ill children on Hawai`i Island through various fundraising activities and events; and
WHEREAS, A Dream Come True is requesting funds for its ice cream party on
October 16, 2016, to purchase ice cream, food, supplies, and other expenses associated with this
fundraising event; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Hawaii Fire Department to provide a grant to A Dream Come True to pay for ice cream,
food, supplies, and other expenses associated with the ice cream party on October 16, 2016, to
raise funds for seriously ill children on Hawai`i Island; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
