RESOLUTION NO. 647 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO SOCIETY FOR
KONA'S EDUCATION & ART TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH
MARKETING VARIOUS SOUTH KONA EVENTS.
WHEREAS, Society for Kona's Education& Art is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that provides for the wellbeing of South Kona residents through various community events and
activities for the young and elderly; and
WHEREAS, Society for Kona's Education& Art is requesting funds to assist with the
promotional, marketing, and advertising materials for their Music On The Lawn, SOKO Artists
Studio Tour, Talent Show and various other events throughout 2016 promoting education and
art; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to Society for Kona's Education
& Art for community engagement and activities that will educate both visitors and residents;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
