A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA
OUTDOOR CIRCLE TO PURCHASE A WOOD CHIPPER.
WHEREAS, Waimea Outdoor Circle (WOC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
whose mission is to keep Hawaii clean, green and beautiful by preserving protecting, and
enhancing our environment for future generations; and
WHEREAS, WOC's undertaking is to keep Waimea clean, green, and beautiful; and
WHEREAS, the Nature Park in Waimea received extensive damage from high storm
winds and rain; and
WHEREAS, WOC volunteers used heavy equipment to cut up and move logs and
branches from downed trees; and
WHEREAS, WOC is requesting funds to purchase a wood chipper to process the logs
and trees; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Waimea Outdoor Circle to
purchase a wood chipper; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
