RESOLUTION NO. 662 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO MEDICAL
CENTER FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH TRANSPORTATION COSTS FOR
STUDENTS ATTENDING THE TEEN HEALTH CAMP.
WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that was founded in 1995, whose mission is to support the Hilo Medical Center with projects that
benefit the greater community; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation is sponsoring a Teen Health Camp
with resident doctors from the Hawaii Island Family Medicine Residency Program, health
professionals, medical students, and community organizations to teach with a hands-on approach
to middle and high school students interested in the field of healthcare; and
WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation is requesting funds to assist with
transportation costs for students in outlying rural areas to attend the Teen Health Camp at
Kealakehe High School on November 12, 2016; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Mass Transit Agency to provide a grant to the Hilo Medical Center Foundation to assist with
transportation for the Teen Health Camp; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Mass Transit Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
