RESOLUTION NO. 663 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PURCHASE SLEEPING BAGS FOR THE
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION'S PRINCESS ABIGAIL
WAHIIKA`AHU`ULA KAWANANAKOA CENTER.
WHEREAS, the Princess Abigail Wahiika`ahu`ula Kawananakoa Center
("Kawananakoa Center") is a County facility under the Department of Parks and Recreation
located in the Keaukaha area of Hilo; and
WHEREAS, the Kawananakoa Center hosts various programs throughout the year,
including its Fall Intersession program called "Pilikulaiwi," which means building a relationship
with our homeland; and
WHEREAS, the Pilikulaiwi program will offer 25 children the opportunity to
participate in various excursions, including an overnighter to safely and respectfully explore our
island, focusing on the land, mountains, and out -planting of native trees such as the Acacia koa
and Sophora chrysophylla (mdmane); and
WHEREAS, the Kawananakoa Center is requesting funds to purchase sleeping bags to
be used for its programs; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to purchase sleeping bags for the Kawananakoa Center;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
