Dear Chairman Kanuha and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to inform you that I have nominated the following individuals to the Puna Community
Development Plan (CDP)Action Committee:
Michael R. Bernard - Mr. Bernard is a 7-year resident of Hawaii. He was employed by Hawaii
Community College from 2010 to 2014 as an instructor in Speech Communication. He presently still
teaches at HCC on-call as needed. Mr. Bernard is the Vice President of HPP Neighborhood watch, and
he volunteers with SCORE. He states that he is a Democrat.
Yumi T. Kawano- Ms. Kawano is a 12-year resident of Hawaii. She is a retired teacher. Ms. Kawano is
presently a member of the Volcano Long Range Planners and the Volcano Community Association. She
states that she is not affiliated with any political party.
Teresa L. Reveira- Ms. Reveira is a 41-year resident of Hawaii. She is an elementary school teacher
at Kua 0 Kala PCS. Ms. Reveira is a member of COSEE, a Marine Education Association at UH Manoa,
and a member of the Bishop Museum and the Hawaii School Teachers Association. She states that she
is not affiliated with any political party.
All three individuals are being nominated to a 4-year term to end on December 20, 2020. Should you
