RESOLUTION NO. 675 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO WATERS OF LIFE
NEW CENTURY PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES
ASSOCIATED WITH TRANSPORTING ITS STUDENTS TO AND FROM SCHOOL.
WHEREAS, the Waters of Life New Century Public Charter School, also known as Na
Wai Ola Public Charter School, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a first-class
education in a nurturing environment, which strives for individual academic success with
Hawaiian culture and values as its guiding principal; and
WHEREAS, Na Wai Ola Public Charter School, located in Mountain View, has
identified the need to provide free, safe, and reliable transportation to and from school, servicing
families living between Fern Acres and Maku`u; and
WHEREAS, the Mass Transit Agency supports this appropriation as it can provide safe,
clean, and convenient transportation service for students, especially for Na Wai Ola Public
Charter School where over 80% of its students come from low-income households; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Mass Transit Agency to provide a grant to Waters of Life New Century Public Charter
School, also known as Na Wai Ola Public Charter School, to assist with expenses associated
with transporting its students to and from school; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Mass Transit Administrator and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
