RESOLUTION NO. 681 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII
WILDLIFE FUND FOR NORTH KOHALA ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE, AND HIGH
SCHOOL'S RECYCLE PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Wildlife Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated
to the conservation of Hawai`i's native wildlife through research, education, and advocacy; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Wildlife Fund supports the efforts of North Kohala Elementary,
Middle, and High School's (North Kohala Schools) recycle program; and
WHEREAS, the North Kohala School's recycle program includes starting recycle
stations to promote plastic recyclability and the 3 R's -reducing, reusing, recycling and creating
art pieces for the stations and promotional brochures for vendors and businesses in North
Kohala; and
WHEREAS, students of North Kohala Schools would like to build recycle stations at
Kamehameha and Keokea Beach Parks to educate the community about plastic recyclability and
the 3R's—Reduce, Reuse, Recycle; and
WHEREAS, Hawai`i Wildlife Fund is requesting funding assistance for the North
Kohala School's recycle program to purchase trash cans, 3 recycle bins, paint, tiles, tile markers,
plywood, and paper for brochures and flyers; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports youth programs that promote
alcohol- and drug-free events, including North Kohala School's recycle program; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawai`i Wildlife Fund for North Kohala
Elementary, Middle, and High School's recycle program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
