RESOLUTION
NO. 687 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE GENERAL
COUNCIL OF THE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD FOR THE PURCHASE OF A SOLAR
WATER HEATER FOR THE KURTISTOWN ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH.
WHEREAS, The General Council of the Assemblies of God is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that serves as the parent organization for the Kurtistown Assembly of God church;
and
WHEREAS, the Kurtistown Assembly of God, located at 17-550 Volcano Road,
operates a food pantry in an alcohol-free environment and offers free hot showers to community
members in Puna; and
WHEREAS, the Kurtistown Assembly of God requests funding assistance for the
purchase of a solar water heater for its facility, which would heat water for showers, the food
pantry, and a washing machine to help disadvantaged members of the community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to The General Council of the Assemblies
of God for the purchase of a solar water heater for the Kurtistown Assembly of God church;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
