RESOLUTION NO. 691 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KALANI HONUA INC.
FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OF UNIFORM EXPENSES FOR THE PAHOA
DOLPHINS YOUTH SWIM TEAM.
WHEREAS, Kalani Honua Inc. is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization that
uses its proceeds to support education, recreation, and Hawaiian cultural preservation in the
district of Puna; and
WHEREAS, Kalani Honua Inc. and its community partners, the Pahoa Booster Club and
Mainstreet Pahoa Association, are working collaboratively to promote extracurricular sports
activities for the youth in Puna, such as the Pahoa Dolphins youth swim team, which provides
positive recreational opportunities for 47 young athletes; and
WHEREAS, Kalani Honua Inc., as a fiscal sponsor for youth recreational activities, is
seeking a reimbursement on behalf of the Pahoa Booster Club and Mainstreet Pahoa Association
for the purchase of team shirts, swimsuits, and swim caps for the Pahoa Dolphins swim team;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation develops partnerships with other
providers and community organizations that support youth athletics to maximize recreational
services and activities to the community; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Kalani Honua Inc. for the
reimbursement of uniform expenses for the Pahoa Dolphins youth swim team; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
