RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE LICENSING
AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PULSEPOINT APPLICATION SOFTWARE
FROM THE HILO MEDICAL CENTER FOUNDATION, FOR USE BY THE
HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation is paying for the licensing and
implementation of PulsePoint application software, and donating this purchase to the
County of Hawaii for use by the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the estimated value of this donation is approximately $18,000 and
will be utilized by the Hawaii Fire Department to provide the PulsePoint application to
persons who have indicated that they are trained in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
(CPR); and
WHEREAS, this application alerts such persons as indicated above of a cardiac
arrest occurring within approximately 400 feet of their location in a public area; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai`i County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts
or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution
approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter
2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to the Hilo Medical Center Foundation, do Lisa Rantz, Executive
Director, 1190 Waianuenue Avenue, Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous
donation.
