Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Bill No. 247,
reports as follows:
Bill No. 247, transmitted by Council Member Margaret Wille, via Communication No. 1087
dated September 29, 2016, names the Bank of Hawaii Building and amends Chapter 15,
Article 8, Section 15-68.1 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended),
relating to the Parks and Recreation facility schedule.
The bill names the former North Kohala Bank of Hawaii Building in Kapa`au to "Ka Hale o Na
kupuna i Kohala," and adds it to the Parks and Recreation facility schedule.
Council Chair Kanuha and Council Member Onishi requested that she meet with the community
before the next Council meeting.
Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Bill No. 247, and recommends its passage on first reading.
