RESOLUTION NO. 714 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII
VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC.,
TO BUILD A PURPLE HEART MEMORIAL.
WHEREAS, the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion
Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran
organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have spearheaded numerous projects at the
County's West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha 0 Na Po`e Koa 0 Hawai`i
Komohana(WHVC); and
WHEREAS, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary to the Christopher Camero
Memorial VFW Post 12122 is planning to build a Purple Heart Memorial at WHVC to honor
veteran heroes and their families; and
WHEREAS, WHVCDEA is requesting assistance with costs associated with building
the Purple Heart Memorial which would also improve and beautify the area; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to build a Purple
Heart Memorial at WHVC; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
