RESOLUTION NO. 717 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO CROSSNET
MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL TO REIMBURSE THE PILIPA`A VOLLEYBALL
CLUB FOR TRAVEL EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS PARTICIPATION IN THE 2016
JUNIOR OLYMPICS•
WHEREAS, Crossnet Ministries International, which falls under the Gospel Ministers
and Churches International, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that sponsors or forms
relationships with various sports clubs, such as the Pilipa'a Volleyball Club in Kea'au; and
WHEREAS, the Pilipa'a Volleyball Club consists of athletes from different schools in
the Hilo and Puna areas who are serious about self-development and participating in competitive
tournaments; and
WHEREAS, representing Hawai`i Island,the Pilipa'a Volleyball Club competed in the
2016 Junior Olympics held in Dallas, Texas, from June 29, 2016, to July 4, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Crossnet Ministries International is seeking a reimbursement for travel
expenses, such as air travel and sleeping accommodations, related to the Pilipa'a Volleyball
Club's participation in the 2016 Junior Olympics; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control develops partnerships with other
providers and community organizations that promote sober fun through drug-free and alcohol-
free events; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to
the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Crossnet Ministries International to
reimburse the Pilipa'a Volleyball Club for travel expenses related to its participation in the 2016
Junior Olympics held in Dallas, Texas; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
