Re: Resolution for multi-year agreement
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year,
for a multi-year agreement for Microsoft software licensing. The County's current
agreement for licensing this software expires in January 2017. The Department of
Information Technology indicates that this agreement will provide the best pricing and
benefits of Microsoft software.

A. REQUEST:
Request approval for a three (3) year contract to continue the County's Miscrosoft Government Enterprise
Agreement.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The current Microsoft EA will expire in January 2017. The County needs to enter into a new three (3)
year agreement to continue to enjoy the best overall pricing and benefits of Microsoft software.
The Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) for Government provides the best overall pricing, the benefits of
Software Assurance, as well as simplified licensing management. The EA for Government provides a
seamless way to license both on-premises software and cloud services. The County will have the flexibility to
choose software and cloud services for different user types, optimizing to fit County operational needs, and
streamline software compliance and asset management across all of the County's Microsoft purchases.
