RESOLUTION NO. 724 16
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII
VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC.,
TO CONSTRUCT A PURPLE HEART MEMORIAL.
WHEREAS, the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion
Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to
maintaining and beautifying the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu'u Ho'omaha 0 Na Po`e
Koa 0 Hawai`i Komohana; and
WHEREAS, in honor of our veteran heroes and their many sacrifices, the Veterans of
Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary to the Christopher Camero Memorial VFW Post 12122 will be
constructing a Purple Heart Memorial at the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu'u Ho'omaha 0
Na Po`e Koa 0 Hawai`i Komohana; and
WHEREAS, WHVCDEA has requested financial assistance to defray the costs
associated with the construction of the Purple Heart Memorial; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to construct a Purple
Heart Memorial at the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu'u Ho'omaha 0 Na Po`e Koa 0
Hawai`i Komohana; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
