SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT:
WAIANUENUE AVENUE — UPDATE NO STOPPING, STANDING OR
PARKING AREAS
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5. Parking,
Section 24-286, Schedule 34. No stopping, standing or parking areas under (c) South
Hilo be amended by revising existing item (2):
(2) Waianuenue Avenue, both sides NORTHWEST (HAMAKUA) SIDE, from a--point

STREET TO A POINT FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY-TWO FEET NORTHEAST OF
LAIMANA STREET between the hours of 7:15 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on school
days.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 5. Parking,
Section 24-286, Schedule 34. No stopping, standing or parking areas under (c) South
Hilo be amended by adding new item and renumbering as required:
( ) WAIANUENUE AVENUE, SOUTHEAST (PUNA) SIDE, FROM KOMOHANA
STREET TO A POINT FIVE HUNDRED SIXTY-EIGHT FEET NORTHEAST OF
LAIMANA STREET BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 7:15 A.M. AND 8:00 A.M. ON
SCHOOL DAYS.

Traffic Code Amendments —Waianuenue Avenue cont'd
The intent of these amendments is to update Section 24-286 of the Hawaii County
Code to better address current field conditions. This update would revise an existing
"No stopping, standing or parking" area and provide two "No stopping, standing or
parking" zones in and around the area of Hilo Intermediate School and Hilo High
School. These zones would be in effect during the Waianuenue Avenue one-way.
