SUBJECT: Discussion Relating to the Department of Environmental Management
I request 75 minutes to allow for a discussion and report from the Department of
Environmental Management Director or designee on the efforts to implement:
(1) Resolution 525-14 - "A Resolution Strongly Urging the Director of the Department of
Environmental Management to Increase the Diversion Rate of Solid Waste as
Recommended in the 2009 Zero Waste Implementation Plan for the County of
Hawai`i."
(2) 2009 "Zero Waste Implementation Plan for the County of Hawai`i" recommendations
for:
1) Organics
2) Reuse
3) Recyclables
4) Special Discards
5) Education, outreach, and public awareness
(3) The Aloha+ Challenge with respect to the goal relating to solid waste reduction.
Please place this matter on the appropriate November 15, 2016 Committee agenda.
