Whereby the State Department of Transportation and the Federal
Transit Administration will Enable the County to Receive Funds
The following is the action of the Hawaii County Council adopted at its
meeting held May 25, 1999:
Res. 71-99 was adopted and FC Report No. 78 was approved
and adopted.

Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 71-99, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 71-99, transmitted by Transportation Specialist Tom Brown, via Communication
No. 237, dated Mazch 31, 1999, authorizes the County of Hawaii to enter into an agreement with
the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration to
enable the County of Hawaii to receive funds made available through United States Code,
Title 49, Chapter 53, Section 5311.
The County of Hawaii desires to secure fund grants to meet the general public transportation
needs and special transportation needs of the elderly and disabled citizens of the County.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, county departments must obtain the consent
of the council to enter into agreement with the federal or state governments respecting action to
be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to famish, expend and receive any funds
or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
The Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the above referenced agreement, which will effectuate
these purposes.
Further information was requested of the Mass Transportation Agency prior to the next Council
meeting.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 71-99
and recommends its adoption.
