Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 260, reports as follows:
Bill No. 260, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi via Communication No. 1156 dated October 24,
2016, amends Section 25-8-33 (City of Hilo Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning Code) of the
Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition) by changing the district classification from Agricultural —
Twenty Acres (A-20a) to Family Agricultural—Two Acres (FA-2a) at Ponahawai, South Hilo, Hawai`i,
covered by Tax Map Key: 2-5-047:031. The applicants are John K. and Lori L. Kai, and the subject
parcel covers 9.323 acres. The applicants intend to subdivide the property into four parcels,
approximately 2+acres each. The applicants will live on one lot in their home that has been previously
constructed and will reserve the other lots for their immediate family.
The Windward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on October 6, 2016, concurred
with the Planning Director's favorable recommendation.
Mr. Chung said, "I think everything looks OK." There was no further discussion.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 260, and recommends
its passage on first reading.
