RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII
VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC.,
TO PAY FOR COLUMBARIUM VASE FIXTURES.
WHEREAS, the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion
Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran
organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated numerous
projects at the County's West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha O Na Po`e Koa O
Hawaii Komohana (WHVC) to assist and honor our veterans; and
WHEREAS, WHVCDEA has requested funds to assist veteran families that are unable
to pay for the cost of columbarium vase fixtures for loved ones that are placed to rest at WHVC;
and
WHEREAS, the act of honoring and paying tribute to a loved one by placing flowers
directly upon a burial site is a traditional, emotional, and precious act of remembrance; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief fiends shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and
WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to
the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to pay for
columbarium vase fixtures at WHVC; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
