Honolulu City Council has already passed Bill 65,which Mayor Kirk Caldwell signed on November 23, 2015. We are eager for Hawai`i County to join us in supporting our women in the State of Hawai`i. The resolution will help guide Hawai`i in assisting women to achieve economic, social and cultural equality within our society as well as provide for a review of successes and opportunities to improve. It is unfortunate that the US is one of only 7 countries in the world who did not ratify the CEDAW in 1979 at the United Nations General Assembly, but we can choose to make a difference by joining many other US cities who have passed similar resolutions and bills. I strongly urge you all to pass Resolution 568-16 in support of human rights for our women, which will improve the overall health of Hawai`i. Thank you for the opportunity to testify, Le'a Minton, Certified Nurse Midwife c r y I-77 _. 7r c :n;-::;„]) ,.71 : Wim. No. 61, 63115 _m Ref. To: Ref. Date SEP 0 7 Ca16 1
