Aloha,
I support the allocation of funding (Bill 244)to start design and planning work on the third phase of the Ane Keohokalole
Highway:I live in Kona Highlands, and would welcome the additional roadway capacity between Kalaoa and Kailua-Kona.
The two current roadways,Queen Kaahumanu Highway and Mamalahoa Highway, are extremely congested during peak
driving hours.Yes,the widening of Queen Kaahumanu Highway will help alleviate some of the traffic congestion issues.
However,there is a significant need to extend Keohokalole Highway to Kaiminani Drive.
The community college has been constructed in this area, and future development will be geared around this part of
North Kona,which will necessitate improve roadway improvements to help with traffic circulation. Please allocate these
funds, so this much-needed highway project can move forward in the near future.
