Property Tax Increase
The front page story in todays paper really bothers me. Has it not occurred to you
that increasing property taxes will further hurt our dismal economic climate? We are
already overtaxed and you want to further load property owners, so as not to cut
such services as police and fire?
As a leader, you really should approach the problem not by further increasing
revenues -but rather take a good hard look at the expense side of the income
statement You have not talked about reduction in expenditure commensurate with
the declining economy. You may not like to hear this, but if you would only look, there
are many areas where there is excess. Privatization if approached intelligently, can
vastly improve the quality of services and save create substantial savings.
Perhaps you should create a more business like atmosphere in the county
departments. If we in the private sector were to run our businesses the way you run
yours, we would all be broke.
Please remove the very suggestion of any tax hike.
