Regarding: Kukuihaele Park alterations
Dear County of Wawa representative,
As a property owner and business owner in Kukuihaele Village I would like to express my _
disappointment in how our tax dollars are being spent to the tune of S million dollars,to
make changes to Kukuihaele park to benefit a very small,portion of the community and to
the dislocation of the majority of the community.
in the past,the park was primarily used for two purposes:
1. Individuals and families with children as an area to relax or safely run around during
daylight hours.
2. Family celebrations such as first birthdays, weddings,graduations and memorial
serokes.
The proposed restrooms and covered pavilion were appreciated by however the historic
uses are of course currently, and ultimately will be, restricted as a result of the baseball
field.
I do not personally use the park other than to attend community gatherings aid
celebrations. i am, however a tax payer and do not wish to see 5 million tax dollars being
spent on a project which is wanted by, and benefits, only a small percentage of the Village
population while at the same time-being disruptive to "the quiet enjoyment" of others.
Clearly tlgvhas become a very emotional and divisive issue.Many feel They were not
informed in a timely manner as to the proposed changes so as to respond and voice their
opposition or support.
Perhaps the proposed changes not presently completed can be put to the property owners
and residents of the community for a vote, wherein the majority rules. This could be
accomplished by going door to door or by Inalft a"ballot'to each Tax Map Key, moth like
what is required when-applying for a change to property boundaries or zoning.
