Rate of Compensation. (A) There shall be an executive pay plan covering appointive executive/administrative positions. Employees occupying positions covered by this executive pay plan shall be paid at rates of compensation set forth in the following schedule at the pay grade fixed and established by section 8 of this ordinance or any amendatory resolution, except in the case where an employee within a department is appointed and confirmed as its department head, the department head's salary may be adjusted to a level commensurate to the highest-paid salary of any employee within the department over which that department head is charged. Accordingly, the salary of a deputy maybe adjusted to a level no more than 95 percent of that department head's adjusted salary. The mayor, for positions in the executive branch, the council chair, for positions in the legislative branch This amendment not only seeks to address the current problem with the chief engineer's position, but it also has the potential of addressing future similar situations.
