RESOLUTION NO. 40 17
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HALE MUA
CULTURAL GROUP TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE
2017 KING KAMEHAMEHA DAY CELEBRATION PARADE AND HO`OLAULE`A.
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is
dedicated to preserving and perpetuating native Hawaiian culture and collaborates with groups
that stabilize, restore, and maintain historical sites and offer educational programs; and
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group and King Kamehameha Day Parade
Committee are working together to coordinate the 2017 King Kamehameha Day Celebration
Parade and Ho`olaule`a, which will take place on June 10, 2017; and
WHEREAS, the Hale Mua Cultural Group is requesting funds for website operations
and advertisement for the 2017 King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and Ho`olaule`a; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support alcohol- and
drug-free community events, such as the King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and
Ho`olaule`a; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hale Mua Cultural Group to assist with expenses
associated with the 2017 King Kamehameha Day Celebration Parade and Ho`olaule`a.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
