HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0664.176 2014-2016 My name is Julie Elkjer and I am one of the owners of Sustainable Island Products based in Hilo, Hawaii, a family owned and operated business. In reviewing both Bill 140 and Bill 204 I feel that I can speak both as a business owner and educator with a Master of Art specializing in Curriculum and Development for Secondary Education. I oppose Bill 204 and support Bill 140. Bill 140 has already a built in component for education, which allows the community, in large-to receive the education, but is driven by the end result of Bill 140 a ban on polystyrene. As with any form of education, you need a desired outcome along with areal life application. Bill 140 completes the cycle. The County of Hawaii has an excellent opportunity to be a Center of Excellence with passing Bill 140: setting an example for the State.of Hawaii, the rest of the United States and other countries. I support Bill 140. As stated —the education to the community is part of Bill 140. COUNTY CLERIC COUNTY OF HAWAII RECEIVED Tint cs:'° 'Y Date 5© (p1141 fico Damm. No. Ref. To: ‘WK(' Ref.
