NO. G Ref. To: t,of. Date 1 Date: September 19, 2016 Finance Committee Meeting To: Finance Committee From: Kirk Shorte, Owner of 73-4529 Iki Place Lot 8 RE: Resolution to Initiate Kohanaiki Homestead Water Improvement District I have lived in my house on Iki Place (lot 8) for a little over 12 years. I remember remarking how weird it was that all of the water pipes were above ground the first time I drove down the hill to my road. Some of the pipes have been in that pile for close to 30 years. As people experienced problems with their waterlines they would just install a new pipe and would leave the old pipe in place. Now it looks like a junk yard for PVC and Driscol pipes. I started having issues with leaks maybe 2 years ago when I noticed an unexpected increase in my water bill. I did notice other water lines leaking from time to time but it wasn't until I started getting new leaks every few weeks that I bit the bullet and paid over$2,000 to have over 1100' of pipe installed to replace my waterline last November 2015. While I was in the process of finding a plumber, concrete workers and labor to dig trenches I started looking for ways to get my meter moved from the highway to a spot closer to my house. That's when I got in touch with Council Representative Karen Eoff. She and her team helped me to understand what I would need to do to get those answers. After several emails with the County Engineer and Karen's office I made the decision to explore initiating a Water Improvement District request. On behalf of the following neighbors: John Korona—73019003 (lot 3) owning the property for over 40 year—Has no water service to his lot. Jeff Nannestad & Jane Thomson—73019015 (lot 12) Moved in Oct 2003 Nancy Fitzgerald—73019004 (lot 5) Moved in on June 12, 2012 Annie Sherman—73019009 (lot 15) She has owned her property since 1991 We are all in favor of a water improvement project for our subdivision and request the Finance Committee pass Resolution 634-16.
