As an individual and resident of West Hawaii, I have serious concerns of duplicating process when it comes to the education outreach programs of our marine and coastal areas from Upolu Point to Kalae. I am an active community person that have been very involved in our coastal areas of West Hawaii and have met with the entities that reach out to our communities...please open the attached. The West Hawaii communities have in existence the Makai Watch program, which involves DOCARE outreach education program which is led by John Kahiapo under the DLNR and he is a volunteer of DOCARE. We also have Pelika Bertleman with Chantel Chung of Sea Grant education program that reaches out to the entire West Hawaii from Upolu Point to Kalae. We also have continued coastal education program that NELHA presents monthly. We also have Reef Watch and Reef Talk education programs. We also have Coral Reef Alliance- please see attached. I have attended various educational workshops and meetings and events of our coastal and marine resources and have learn many important facts about our coastal and marine issues that we the community are faced with and work with those who are willing to resolve the issues we are faced with. WHFC must utilize existing State and Federal funded educational outreach programs. Just how many coastal and marine education programs are in existence? Malama Kai and West Hawaii Fisheries Council should be gams; Rai, wf t a 1 Ref. 3®: Ref. Date 'AN 0 1 partnering with the existing programs sponsored by the various State and Federal entities that are already being funded by our tax dollars.
