I believe there are 2 guidance documents to view planning decisio
through an "environmental lens";
1 . Recently community-accepted Hamakua Community
Development Plan, especially Section 4.2- Protect Coastal
Resources;
2. County Planning Department participation in the State
Interagency Climate Adaptation Committee, which has
been tasked to develop a Sea-level Rise Vulnerability
Assessment & Adaptation Report, due at the end of 2017.
The third can be done now, but requires participant commitment;
3. View any proposed coastal development from a makai or
"looking landward from the ocean" perspective.
a. a boat trip would be invaluable, but if not possible then,
b. a field trip to Honoli'i County Beach Park to see the
unabated crumbling cliff-face and its continuing impact
on marine coastal habitat and fishery resources.
See attachment of a home sliding into the ocean.
