Re: Joseph "Joe" Kamelamela- Appointment as Corporation Counsel
Dear Chairperson Poindexter and Members of the Hawai'i County Council:
It is with great pleasure that I am writing to support the nomination of Joseph "Joe"
Kamelamela to the position of Corporation Counsel. Without reservation, I highly recommend
Joe for this important position.
I have known Joe and his wife Pua for over 35 years, as we were classmates at the
William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Since then, we
continued to stay in contact with each other. I also had the opportunity to work with Joe over the
years in his capacity as a deputy with the Office of the Corporation Counsel on several client
matters. Joe has consistently demonstrated intelligence, leadership, integrity, good humor and
the ability to work as a member of a team to accomplish a common goal. Joe has the unique
ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. He possesses the requisite skills and
leadership to serve as Corporation Counsel for the County of Hawai'i, and will bring his wealth
of experience back to the office.
Therefore, I am writing to strongly support his nomination, not only for his professional
competence as Corporation Counsel, but for his integrity and mission to make Hawai'i a better
place to live.
